Using the proper size drill bit is important for insuring the Valve seats into the tree with a snug fit.
Many factors go in to determining proper drill bit size, most notably trunk density and the type of injection being performed (high or low pressure).

• Match the density of the trunk (soft  use a ¼” drill bit, average use 9/32”, hard use 5/16”)
• Match the type of injection performed (high pressure injection use a ¼” drill bit, medium pressure 9/32", low pressure 5/16")

In general the best all around size drill bit is 9/32".
